What is telehealth?

Telehealth allows you to get the mental health care you need from the comfort of your home (or wherever you happen to be). You don’t need to drive to the office or worry about child care. Instead, you can meet with your licensed therapist through a virtual visit.

If you don’t have access to online video conferencing, you may be able to have an audio-only consultation over the phone. However, be sure to ask Desert View Counseling & Consulting if that’s an option for you.

What mental health services can I get through telehealth?

The team at Desert View Counseling & Consulting offers all their in-office services through telehealth, including:

Initial consultation and psychiatric evaluation

You can schedule your first appointment through telehealth. During your initial consultation, you talk about your concerns, go over your medical history, and complete a psychiatric evaluation if needed to diagnose any existing mental health conditions.

Your Desert View Counseling & Consulting therapist learns about the challenges you need to tackle and the goals you want to achieve, and then creates a treatment plan.

Medication management

After you have an initial appointment and psychiatric evaluation, Desert View Counseling & Consulting can prescribe psychiatric medication during your telehealth appointments.

When you have a medication management appointment, your therapist learns how you’re doing, if your symptoms have improved, and whether you have any side effects.

They refill your original prescription or change the dose and/or medication to ensure you achieve the best results. Your therapist sends your prescription to your local pharmacy, where you can pick it up at your convenience.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy, an essential part of your treatment plan, can be done via telehealth. The team at Desert View Counseling & Consulting has extensive experience using many therapeutic techniques. Your therapist recommends the approach that works best for you.

Support services

The therapists offer telehealth consultations to people in the community who want help accessing community resources or need a consultation to talk about any issues they face.

How do I access telehealth?

Before scheduling a telehealth appointment, you may need to complete information forms online. Then you call the office to learn more about how to connect for your appointment.

At the scheduled time, you use your computer, tablet, or smartphone to connect through a secure, HIPAA-compliant connection and meet with your therapist.

If you have any questions about setting up a telehealth appointment, call Desert View Counseling & Consulting or book an appointment online today.
